John DuVal and I will be leading a leisurely bike ride on May 2 (aka Dead Day) from one fine Fayetteville establishment to another. We'll gather at around 10 am on the back deck of Arsaga's Depot and ride the trails about 6.5 miles up to Lake Fayetteville.

It's my enormous pleasure to be reading from my new book, Voices Bright Flags, at the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington DC. I can't imagine a more beautiful place to launch it. And as if that weren't enough, I'll be reading with one of my favorite poets, Heather McHugh, who chose my manuscript for the Anthony Hecht Prize. I've got to think it'll be all downhill from here.

I'm delighted to participate in this year's Whittier College Writers Festival, which has a focus on "documentary poetry." I'll be taking part in two events, a panel and a reading. The panel comes first, and it will focus on "The Ethics of Documentary Poetics" and will take place on Thursday, April 15, from 1:30-3:00. My fellow panelists will be Cynthia Hogue, Tony Barnstone, and Tess Taylor. Natalia Zappia will moderate.
